What we do

During and after school, our Teaching Artists serve entire grades, or an entire school. Through creative exploration, improvisation, composition, and presentation students develop an understanding of dance and choreography. Students also learn dances that involve movements and patterns that develop their minds and bodies at their developmental stage in life. The Teaching Artists are not only professional dancers, choreographers, musicians and composers, but they are all trained in teaching In-school educational dance programs.

Our Impact

SBDI was founded in 2005 with the belief that the arts have a special ability to inspire children to find excellence within.  The purpose and mission of SBDI programs is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.

For many children SBDI is a life changing event; for all, it is an amazing experience they will never forget.

supported & valued

I think the SBDI program has a remarkable effect on kids.  Rosalina Macisco has a presence and a talent and a good way with kids.  They “rise to the occasion” and focus on the tasks she lays out for them at their ability level.  Everyone is supported and valued by Ms. Macisco and she is valued in return.
